BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer (P2P) protocol for transferring big files over the Internet, created by Bram Cohen in 2001. Video games, movies, programs, documents, and much more are all transferrable file formats. Its project client is Torrent or Torrent Classic. Torrent is used by about 150 million people all over the world.BitTorrent, which was first released in July 2001, was bought by the blockchain platform TRON in July 2018. BitTorrent has introduced a number of additional capabilities after its purchase, including a dedicated native cryptocurrency token, BTT, which was launched in February 2019.The BitTorrent team hopes to use the BTT token to incentivize torrenting and address concerns such as sluggish download speed and file availability diminishing over time.
