Ethereum Classic (ETC) is a hard fork of Ethereum (ETH). Its primary purpose is to serve as a smart contract network that can host and support decentralized apps (DApps). Ethereum Classic is the legacy chain of Ethereum, and its genuine inventors are Vitalik Buterin and Gavin Wood, the original Ethereum developers.In July 2016, a controversial hard fork on Ethereum occurred as users debated whether or not to reset the blockchain to undo the consequences of a significant attack. The original Ethereum blockchain was divided into two parts, with Ethereum Classic being the older of the two, and Ethereum being the newer.Unlike Ethereum, Ethereum Classic has no intentions to switch to a proof-of-stake (PoS) mining process, and numerous developers are still working on future enhancements including scaling solutions.
