Arthur Brock and Eric Harris-Braun, both seasoned contract developers, co-founded Holo. The two began working on the initiative in December 2016 as part of the MetaCurrency Project, a developer of tools and technologies aimed at powering a future peer-to-peer economy. Holo was inspired by Ceptr, a cooperative P2P framework for DApps on which the two had previously collaborated.Brock founded Geek Gene, a firm that created community-building technologies, including more than 100 alternative currency solutions, and has past expertise creating alternative currency systems. He also co-founded Emerging Leader Labs, a social company incubator, and Agile Learning Centers, an open-source education "starting kit." Brock was awarded a fellow of the Edmond Hillary Fellowship in New Zealand in March 2019.Holo is supposed to operate as a bridge between Holochain, which symbolizes the realm of crypto technology, and regular consumers, according to its "green paper." The project emphasizes many advances, including the capacity to host P2P programs on the internet for mainstream consumers, that it claims would "allow a dramatic shift in the landscape of crypto applications and currencies."
