Internet Computer (ICP) is a decentralized network based on the blockchain that aims to create a "boundless" environment for smart contracts and other decentralized applications to operate at web speed. Internet Computer, which was launched by DFINITY, a Swiss cryptography foundation, offers important infrastructure advancements that might help solving the scaling issue of other blockchain networks, such as Ethereum.The basic idea behind ICP is to create a new type of decentralized internet and global computing system, in which independent data centers around the world join forces to create an alternative to the cloud services that currently power the majority of the internet.
