Kusama is a sandbox that allows any developers to try out early versions of Polkadot projects in a real-world setting.The platform is intended to serve as a testbed for developers interested in developing and deploying their own blockchain, and it may be used as a warm-up network before releasing on Polkadot. The network's native cryptocurrency, KSM, is not an ERC20 token since Kusama manages the network using its own blockchain technology. Kusama has its own token for various reasons: 1) it is used for network governance, 2) it is staked for network operation, 3) it is bonded to link a chain to Kusama as a parachain, and 4) it is a utility token for network users.
